APRS WX Station IW9FRA-2

E-mail Print PDF

One of the last project realized, an APRS WX station. I've bought recently this WM-918 Digital Wheater Station on a Ebay auction, after the test and few problems to interface the WX station to a WXTrak encoder, I've installed it on the roof of my summertime house at about 5 Km from the main location.
With a IC-2E with 1.5 W of power and a 5/8 lamda antenna, the system transmits the weather data every 15 minutes, providing the informations to all the radio amateurs of the province of Trapani.
The callsign is IW9FRA-2, try to search it on db0anf.de or arps.fi

TNX to my father Pietro Todaro for the help in the installation.

I manage an APRS Digipeater with callsign IW9FRA-11 located in Murfi (TP) at 580m above sea level in JM68IA, in this picture you can see the RTX + the TNC with a UIDIGI eprom onboard. The particular software UIDIGI written by Marco Savegnano IW3FQG is very important to avoid the repeation of packets and mantain the radio channel free as possible. Thanks to Enzo IT9ECQ,Momo IT9GNG and Vito IT9GDS for the installation on top the tower in Murfi (TP). It works in a external boxi in company with our RU7 on 430.175MHz +1600KHz (IR9UAC). The Maxon PM100 transceiver in this picture is a robust RTX that provide 20W of power. Carlo Bianconi, a famous italian technician, sells this jewels on his web site. It has 4 channels, programmed by PC and operates in the frequency of 144.800 (European APRS frequency).
